2 liners, 1 lip.
So, I really like the way my lips look when I have lip liner and some gloss or lipstick on. Without those things it’s hard to look in the mirror and not want lip filler. Comparison is the thief of joy and I try my hardest not to get sucked into todays unattainable beauty standards, but what can I say?!?! If was going to change anything about my face, it would be to have a fuller pout.
Anyways, that’s I use two lip liners. I have two go-to liners that never fail me: Cork and Chestnut from Mac Cosmetics.
I use Cork as my ‘base’ liner and line the outer edges of my lip and lightly blend the edges and fill in the corner. The shading with a lighter liner first works as a contour for the lips to give the illusion of a little more fullness.
The second liner, Chestnut, is only applied along the outline of the lip. The extra depth that the darker color gives adds to the shadows created by the previous liner and can emphasize the shape you’ve now created.
I try not to go outside my natural shape since most lips have a natural ridge, drawing past this is always a dead give away of what’s actually going on. The trick is to keep that darkest color as close to outer ridge as possible without going outside of it, this will emphasize your natural shape and give volume. We cannot just draw on whatever shape we desire and expect to not get clocked! The goal is improvement not perfection!
